Safety and health signs – evaluate what you needOne of the major areas where people struggle in planning new buildings is working out what safety and health signs that they need to place – if this hasn’t already been considered and undertaken by the person setting up your office space, you need to look at all health, safety and access needs that your site has, and place them at regular intervals throughout the building space you’re using. Fire safetyFirst and foremost, you need to look at your fire safety needs, and make sure that the safety and health signs that you have in place not only outline your evacuation route, but also where you can find fire extinguishers, blankets and anything else required to fight fires. Ensuring that these signs are well thought through and in place will not only increase the onsite safety record but will meet your legal requirements to sign post and provide an evacuation route and emergency equipment for emergencies. First aidAnother area that people need to ensure they know where to find the items is for first aid – with signs and information you can ensure that people know who to look for if they need first aid and who to call in emergencies. It also ensures that you’ve got enough first aid boxes for the area they are caring for – and within easy reach of those that might need them. First aid signs should be updated yearly, at the same time as any training that your first aiders have to undergo. Other cautions, warnings or hazardsDepending on what sort of environment your work is, you may need to provide additional warnings – or you may simply want to remind people to power down systems before leaving. You can have signs printed if you require extra information that isn’t purchasable on a standard safety and health signs. |
